Editorial policy

Selection

We publish stories that materially affect people trading, shipping, financing or supplying physical commodities and energy. Relevance to professional decision-making is the primary test, not traffic potential.

Sourcing and attribution

Every news article names the publisher whose reporting it summarises, links to the original item, and records both the source publication time and our retrieval time. We do not copy source text; we write original summaries in our own words.

Tone

Coverage is constructive and factual. We avoid alarmism, unattributed rumour, price calls and investment advice. Where a development carries risk, we describe it plainly and attribute it.

Verification

Articles carry a verification status and an editor approval status. Nothing publishes without editor approval. Where a claim rests on a single source, we say so.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom. Commercial relationships never determine what we cover or how we cover it. Any sponsored content is labelled unambiguously.
