Where AI is used

Some articles are drafted with AI assistance from a single named source item. The AI produces a summary; it does not gather facts, contact sources or form judgements.

What AI is not allowed to do

• Invent facts, figures, quotes, prices or named individuals
• Reproduce or lightly reword source text
• Draw conclusions beyond what the cited source states
• Publish anything without editor approval

Human oversight

Every AI-assisted draft is reviewed by an editor against the source before publication. Articles drafted with AI assistance carry a visible editorial note and the same source attribution block as any other story.

Images

Where an illustrative image is generated, it is labelled as illustrative and is never presented as a photograph of a specific event, vessel, cargo or person.

Accountability

Responsibility for accuracy sits with the named author and the approving editor, not with any tool used in production.
